Interests
ActivismThroughout high school I began to get involved with an organization called Youth Advocacy League. By the time I graduated in 2010, I was the leader of M-Powerment, a Co-Leader of Peer Bridges, and a Co-Leader of Spring for the Arts.
M-Powerment is what truly captured my heart. This organization is focused on empowering young women by educating them on topics such as eating disorders, self-esteem, healthy relationships, equality, rape, and sexual assault. I worked with this organization for several years, and still continue my work with them today. For my work in YAL, I was awarded the Caplan-Lieber Award (pictured on the right) and the Jessy Peluso Memorial Scholarship. I am still involved greatly in female activism in Pittsburgh through my internship at the YWCA and supporting many other organizations. Here are some of my favorites: YWCA, Women and Girls Foundation, Pittsburgh Action Against Rape, and Youth Advocacy League |
School InvolvementAt Point Park I have been very involved on campus. I just finished my year long term as the President of the Sport, Arts, and Entertainment Management Club after being Treasurer for a little over a year. I am now the Marketing Coordinator for the club. The club puts on countless events on campus such as concerts, tailgates, and panels.
I also recently joined the United Student Government as the Junior Business Senator. I am on the finance committee and I was the co-chair of the Pioneer Community Day committee. PCD is a great event that allows Point Park students, faculty, and staff to give back to our downtown community. I am also on the Student Advisory Board for the Pittsburgh Center for Sports Media and Marketing as well as their Honors Student Assistant. CosmeticsA few years ago I spent my summer working in the cosmetics department at Macy's as a flex team member. I got to expand my already existing love for makeup by learning new products, techniques, and skills. Since then I have been doing makeup for weddings as a sort of "side job". I love working with brides and making them feel absolutely beautiful on their special day!
Surrae is the bride to the right. She went to Point Park with me and has since started her own wedding planning business, Mod Matrimony! Click the picture to check out her website. Surrae has been a great source of brides for my mini-makeup business. |
